Describe infertility

You or your partner may be struggling with infertility if you’ve had regular unprotected sex for a year or more without becoming pregnant, or for six months or longer if you’re over 35. Infertility is a disorder that can have numerous causes and effects.

Your gynaecologist can perform an evaluation on you to determine the precise cause of your infertility and can then suggest treatments to greatly increase your chances of becoming pregnant. In general, infertility treatments are secure and frequently highly successful.

Why is infertility a problem?

The three main reasons for infertility can be divided almost exactly into thirds: Some causes start with a problem in the woman, others with the male, yet others with both members of the couple, or there is no recognized cause.

Men’s infertility difficulties sometimes involve faulty sperm function or sperm delivery abnormalities.

Women’s infertility can be caused by a variety of problems. The following are a few of the most typical contributing factors:

  • Endometriosis,
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and
  • Pelvic adhesions.
  • Damage to the fallopian tubes,
  • Uterine polyps or fibroids, and
  • Malignancy and its treatments

Your fertility treatment strategy will rely on the precise cause and the origin of the problem.

Can infertility be treated?

Before deciding on a course of action, your doctor may do a battery of tests, such as imaging, ovulation testing, and hormone testing, to identify the most likely reason for your infertility. In order to determine potential pregnancy difficulties in the future and to detect hereditary causes of infertility, they also offer genetic testing.

You might undergo surgery or use drugs for your infertility. Intrauterine insemination (IUI), however, is one of the reproductive procedures offered by DR Asha Sharma that is most successful. Around the time of ovulation, your healthcare professional will inject sperm directly into your uterus during IUI.  They may use fertility medications to first trigger ovulation or they may follow your natural cycle.

Your doctor may advise surgery to remove fibroids or endometriosis lesions in order to increase your chances of getting pregnant. For extra reproductive treatments like in vitro fertilization (IVF), they can also recommend local experts.

What else can I do to boost my ovarian reserve?

There are certain lifestyle adjustments you and your spouse can make to increase your chances of conception in addition to fertility treatments. In order to help you increase your fertility, your healthcare professional might suggest:

  • Giving up smoking;
  • Abstaining from alcohol;
  • Abstaining from illicit drugs;
  • Limiting coffee;
  • Engaging in regular exercise; and
  • Losing or gaining weight.

Specific adjustments to make to increase fertility can differ from person to person, but generally speaking, it’s crucial for both members of the relationship to adopt healthy habits and stay away from potentially harmful substances and chemicals.

The gynaecologist can help you create a family plan if you’ve been trying to get pregnant without luck. Book your consultation with Dr Asha Sharma.
